The Present education system of Bihar? How it can be upgraded?
The education system of Bihar has gone through a roller-coaster ride. At the ancient time, this state was known to be the centre of learning and then invaders came and the degradation of education started.
Presently, Bihar is a land of so many universities, colleges and schools but there is a lack of quality going around. The governments have taken prior actions to nourish the education system but they failed at some stages. So, let’s get started and take a closer look at the education system of Bihar from the past to the present.
Education System of Bihar at Ancient Period
Bihar is a state which was once known to be the education centre of India. This state was enriched with the blend of education as it has been a major centre of learning and home to the universities of Nalanda and Vikramshila.
Bihar is the centre of learning from the Buddha period but unfortunately its tradition lost during the medieval period. At that time the invaders destroyed the learning centres and from then the education system started to getting degraded.
Education System of Bihar during British Rule
During the British Rule, superb things started to happen in the direction of education. The Britishers established Patna University which was also known as the Oxford of East during that time. Colleges like Patna College, Patna Science College, Patna Medical College (PMCH now) & Bihar Engineering College (NIT Patna now) established under the umbrella of Patna University.
The education system of Bihar started running on the top gear and again Bihar has gained its lost credibility. This lead in the education system again got hit during post-independence and exponential loss in the education started taking place.
Education System of Bihar After Independence
India got independence in 1947 and so many things started getting change. The early lead during the British Rule went lost when The Bihari politicians couldn’t get to the mark in getting the centres of education to be established in Bihar.
However, in the 1960s major educational reforms has been made which has streamed the education structure of Bihar. It was all done by the then Educational Minister and Educationalist Satender Narain Sinha who has done some phenomenal changes in the education system of Bihar.
Later on, the successive governments of Bihar were unable to implement the model which was structured by Mr Satender Narain Sinha. This failure again pushed Bihar at its knees and the education system started going downwards.
